GLOBE FAQs

Free Zone is a mobile internet bundle offered by Globe in association with Google, allowing Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers to use Google, Gmail, and Google Search without any data charges. You can access it by going to http://libre.ph on your phone.

To access Free Zone you need to have an internet-capable phone and a Google account. Use the phone’s default browser and visit http://libre.ph to sign in to Free Zone. You may also text LIBRE to 8888 and click on the link in the SMS. Those without Google accounts can easily sign up and create one by following the Create an account now link on their mobile phones. Signing up is also free. You may also register by going tohttp://g.co/FreeZone on your computer.
Note that you’ll see an advise-of-charge page each time you try to click on a link which leads you to a chargeable page. If you don’t see that warning, you’re within Free Zone and not being charged.
Tip: If you’re accessing the Internet on your phone for the first time, please make sure to download the correct settings for your phone by texting GO to 2951 for free.
Free Zone is available to all Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers.

No, you don’t need a data plan to use Free Zone as it allows access without incurring data charges to Google Search, Gmail, and Google via mobile phone. All you need is a data-capable phone to surf and a Google account to sign in.
Note: If you are using a Smartphone, please make sure that you don’t have applications running in the background which require internet connection. You may need to configure your phone and/or phone applications to stop automatic syncing to ensure no data charges are encountered. On most phones, you can configure this by changing your applications sync preferences.
To set up your phone for internet connection, simply text GO to 2951. You will receive an SMS notification together with the configuration settings for your phone. Just click save and you’re good to go.

When you use Google, Gmail and Google Search through Free Zone on your mobile phone, you won’t be charged for data. You can use Free Zone even if you are not subscribed to any data plans.

Free Zone hosts the same version of Google Search, Gmail, and Googleyou’d get if you accessed it via a regular data plan. So as not to overload feature phones, this version compresses images and content and Gmail won’t carry attachments. Pictures may be viewed as long as they can be compressed. Users need not worry about getting charged unknowingly as they will be prompted by a notification page if they are about to enter a chargeable page.

If you click on a link that takes you outside Google, or Gmail, you will be prompted if you want to continue browsing at regular browsing rates. If you proceed, you will be charged P5 for 15 minutes unless registered to a mobile internet promo. If you are not registered to a data plan yet, you will have the option to sign up for one.

For Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers, please make sure to use either myGlobe Connect (www.globe.com.ph) or INET (http.globe.com.ph) APN.

Clicking on a link within the search results page is free of charge. This will allow you to view contents of your chosen site. However, clicking further into the page will be subject to default browsing rates of P5 for 15 minutes unless registered to a mobile internet promo. Before you are charged, you will see a notification page. If you are not registered to a data plan yet, you will have the option to sign up for one.
Example: Your first click on a search link to a Wikipedia article is free but if you click on a link in the article, default charges will apply unless registered to a mobile internet promo.
You may search within Free Zone for as many times as you wish. Clicking on the results (from the Google search results page) is also free. However, clicking on links further within the chosen sites will be subject to regular browsing charges. So if you have clicked through to a link and want to find out more, simply return to your search page and you can click on another link or search again for free. There are no limits on the amount of searches you can make.
Note: You will always be prompted with a notification page when you are clicking on a link that leads to a chargeable page.
